MMU – Mission Management Unit
The revolutionary satellite communications interface from Sky
Connect gives you fast access to satellite text messaging and
voice calls with a bright alphanumeric display and a multifunction
control knob.
2-Way Text Messaging
The MMU makes it a breeze to send standard company-specific messages,
such as number of passengers, current fuel load, patient status,
ETA, etc. Mini-forms can be presented for the crew to enter numbers
or text to answer questions for dispatchers.
Dispatchers and operations centers can send standard, free-form,
and variable answer text messages to the aircraft using the web-based
Tracker-MAP application. A future upgrade will enable flight managers
to send one-way messages via standard email and SMS protocols.
Direct-dial Satellite Telephone
Making and receiving telephone calls in an aircraft has never
been easier. Up to 99 phone numbers with names can be stored.
Entries are found by simply by rotating the knob, then a quick
tap on the knob initiates the call. By using the pre-stored number
library, operators can limit outbound calls to mission purposes
only.
For ultimate flexibility, there is an operator-configurable option
to allow "any-number" dialing. Using the entry method
commonly found on GPS receivers, the MMU control knob can be used
to enter and dial any phone number in the world.
Worldwide Tracking
When combined with Sky Connect TRACKER, the world's first seamless
polar-to-polar flight tracking system, the MMU provides the best
full-feature aircraft management tool for all types of missions.
Greatly improved levels of operational efficiency, customer service,
crew support, and aircraft monitoring are achievable when your
fleet is equipped with Sky Connect TRACKER. Each TRACKER-equipped
aircraft transmits real-time position reports via satellite to
any authorized PC. This allows a constant awareness of the location
and flight status of each aircraft in your fleet WITHOUT requiring
any action by the pilot or dispatcher. Depending upon how TRACKER
is installed and implemented, urgent and emergency conditions
can be automatically sent to the TRACKER display map.
Tracker-MAP
For complete access to the capabilities of the MMU, coupled with
the position reporting of TRACKER, we recommend the use of Tracker-MAP,
available on a subscription basis only to Sky Connect TRACKER
operators. Tracker-MAP integrates the 2-way text messaging function;
the map user can interact with each of the aircraft through an

Sky Connect has also partnered with FLIGHT EXPLORER to bring
unprecedented flight-following capabilities to the desktops of
any company. IFR and Tracker-equipped VFR aircraft can be visible
to dispatchers, FBOs, and other fleet operators using the unique
capabilities of Flight Explorer Professional® software. The
sophisticated event and status notification functions of FE Professional
can now work for aircraft flying VFR in the same manner as aircraft
flying IFR. [FE Professional will support the MMU 2-way text messaging
in the 3rd quarter of 2006].
