The features of the transparent connection are:
Voice channel only
Usage of standard telephone equipment
Outgoing calls are handled as calls from a traditional telephone,
with a virtual dial tone when the phone is unhooked
Incoming calls are routed to the handset
The GlobeConnect can restrict the use of telephone, fax and data
to the Thuraya Satellite, to any number of receivers desired.
The restrictions of outgoing calls are administered through a
local phone book, that can only be accessed with a master password.
The restrictions can be set up to limit calls to specific numbers,
certain prefix and country codes and to either telephone, fax
or data. Outgoing telephone, fax and data calls are handled in
firstinfirst out order. When a channel is occupied, the next call
will receive `busy' signal or be directed to the next available
GlobeConnect if working in a stacked system.
The GlobeConnect can be set up with a voice fee control unit,
operated in a rural call centre or a public post office, where
a personal operated phone service is desired. In this mode an
optional terminal (voice fee control unit) for operator control
is supplied for administration of prepaid conversation Time.
The GlobeConnect offers additional functions:
Phone Book: enters, deletes and dials phone numbers. Used for
fast dialing, as well as to restrict outgoing calls and restriction
of calls to certain numbers
Print of daily, weekly and monthly reports
Prepaid SIM card usage
Updates of software and parameter's over the air
GlobeConnect is based on an open platform making it possible to
add a number of status information features to the unit. GlobeConnect
makes it possible to survey, control and administer remote installations
from a control center.

The new Mid Gain antenna comes standard with 15 meters of cable,
and is suitable for normal use of the GlobeConnect. This antenna
is less sensitive to "directional adjustment" although
it is a directional antenna, and it will work at a larger angle
